As a family we have owned 8 Castle Street since 1980 and have fond family memories having lived here for numerous years. The property has been a Guest House for many years, then a private property. It has just been extensively and exquisitely renovated to now bring you a property which we are truly proud of, uncovering original period walls and beams in the process.
Our style is an elegant and stylish boutique hotel incorporating art from local artist Carlie Cunrow and local photographs from Andrew Hastings, Ralph Lambert and Stewart Mckeown.
We are local and have lived in the Canterbury/Whitstable/Wye area for our whole lives and as such have a wealth of knowledge and recommendations to bring you.
Directly beneath the property is The Saffron Café which sells delicious breakfast and lunches and has a beautiful outdoor seating area – a rarity for the centre of Canterbury.
Going back further into history, Canterbury has a strong Roman connection and The Roman Museum with its original roman pavement on display should be on any visitors tour. Castle Street is long believed to have a Roman pavement under the street and potentially also a Coliseum.

What a great place. Super convenient for the city centre yet tucked away from any nightlife noise. We felt at home straight away.
This was a beautiful and stylish apartment, with thoughtful touches throughout. It was clear that the space and amenities were designed with the comfort of the visitor in mind. A large flat screen TV, comfortable bed and sofa, high quality kitchen facilities (including an amazing coffee machine and milk frother which is a must to try), furnishings, decoration – all great. It felt like 5-star hotel quality for a fraction of the price. We have stayed in well over 70 Airbnb places and this was definitely in the top 10 for us. If we were staying in Canterbury again, this is where we would book without hesitation.
The suite was perfect. The attention to detail second to none. Cleaner than clean and the bedding, towels etc were such lovely quality. The kitchen has everything you need, of excellent quality. It was so comfortable and the whole place is so beautifully done. Luxurious which is not always the case but here it certainly is. We will be booking again. The location is excellent. Even the cafe next door for brunch was fantastic. The information file is very good as is the communication. Looking forward to our next trip.
